Patocco – a year in video. Located high in the Val Raccolana under the towering peaks of the Julian Alps the beauty of Patocco is portrayed through the seasons with some stunning images of the village scenery and the val raccolana.
Patocco Village Festival – 14 July 2019
Patocco Village Festival – Sunday 14th July 2019 Patocco will celebrate its patron saint with a special mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, followed by food and refreshments offered by the local community. Donations to the church maintenance fund will be much appreciated.
Memories of the great fire
Memories of the great fire in Val Raccolana and the events of 4 August five years ago. The fire had burned for over three weeks from a small event near the summit of Monte Jovet; on the 4th August 2013,as it threatened the village of Patocco, it took on a new dimension.
Patocco – Summer 2018
It’s summer in Patocco and the village has come back to life as the residents ascend the mountain fro their August sojourn in peace and tranquility away from the searing heat on the plains below.
First Snow 2015
The first snow of the year arrived in Patocco, Val Raccolana on 23rd November 2015. About 5cm fell and there are no problems with road access so far.
Great Fire of 2013 – in Video.
In 2013 a fire which was started by a lightning strike on Monte Jovet, on 14 July, burned for a month along the Val Raccolana. Here are two videos showing the events in Patocco in early August and what happened on 4 August when the flames threatened the houses.
The great Fire of 2013 – Part 3
During July and August 2013 a forest fire threatened Patocco and the Val Raccolana. The fire burned for three weeks on Monte Jovet before crossing Rio Chiout Cali and burning uncontained along the northern flanks of Val Raccolana. The front stretched from the valley floor, to below the cliffs of Cimone and eventually consumed almost 1000 hectares of forest.
The great fire of 2013 – Part 2
By the beginning of August 2013 a fire had been burning on Monte Jovet above Patocco for almost three weeks. The fire was now burning on Gran Cuel above Patocco, threatening the village in a way that no one had really believed would happen. 4 August 2013 became the day of reckoning for the inhabitants of Patocco

Patocco village festival
This weekend will see the annual village festival in Patocco. An opportunity for the villagers to get together, along with others from the valley and Chiusaforte to meet up and enjoy an afternoon together. The festival is organised by volunteers and one of its aims is to raise funds for the maintenance of Patocco’s iconic church.
